Eskom asks for more than 15 years to reduce power in peak periods. They never introduced TOU, time of use tariffs for residential customers, and small businesses. Power from diesel fueled OCGTs is R 7.50/kWh. Before adding transmission, distribution, municipality markups.

Just saw a post saying we might have stage 4 loadshedding this weekend 😳. After 10 months. U have already recieved ur 25 % increase for this year. So now u screw us over. Is the 25 % for handouts . I don't think the public should be paying for someone else's pockets

Worlds largest battery - beatiful pumped storage. Last week I visited Anji in central China. Its home to Changlongshan pumped storage plant. Deep inside the mountains water is pumped 400 meters by solar and wind power from a lower to an upper reservoir. When the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing or there is peak energy demand, energy from the hydro turbines is released into the grid. The plant is huge, but fit well into the terrain showing we can build big and respect nature all the same. It creates a seemless system of solar, wind and hydro 24 hours a day. This is the future of green energy!

We completed exploratory works on @sserenewables' Coire Glas pumped storage hydro scheme. The £100m programme involved the construction of a 1.2km tunnel into the hillside on the banks of Loch Lochy. ⛰️ Over 90,000 tonnes of rock and earth were excavated as part of the exploratory works! Important geological data was gathered from the rocks to inform the main design. Pumped hydro storage is critical to the UK Government's #CleanPowerMission. Coire Glas would be the first major pumped storage hydro scheme built in 40 years! With up to 30GWh of storage capacity, it could power three million homes for up to 24 hours. And it would nearly double Great Britain's total current electricity storage capacity. 🤯 Department for Energy Security and Net Zero confirmed earlier this year a cap and floor investment framework would be introduced to enable the deployment of long-duration electricity storage projects. Matthew Smith has spent the last 18 months modeling every well, pipeline, storage facility, and power plant in the American natural gas system. His conclusion is that the US is heading toward a natural gas shortage with no precedent, beginning in 2028. By 2030, he believes we could exhaust our working natural gas storage entirely.
