At the time he was employed by the great Hiram Maxium as an assistant manager and draftsman for the US Electric Lighting Company. So no. He didnt invent the lightbulb, or the filament. He invented a method to reduced breakage during the carbonization process. He even eventually worked for Edison, and had a pretty interesting life, without the need for embellishment So let's stop making shit up. If we care about history, lets be accurate about it.

Lewis Latimer literally just 'patented' a longer lasting filament, he didn't invent said filament, and he literally worked on Edison's team.

This is called black-washing history and it’s extremely racist, actually.

Latimer developed an improved filament-making process in 1882, AFTER Edison’s bulb design was already in use. This became obsolete in 1910 when tungsten filaments became standard. Edison also invented the phonograph and the motion picture camera. Gonna try to steal those too?
