Pedestrian Almost gets ran over in Burnaby,BC

I bet the truck driver was angry for someone daring to use a crosswalk when he wanted to drive through it. Truck drivers am I right ?

Classic A-Pillar blind spot.

Many people don’t realize the modern vehicle has MASSIVE A pillars that completely block a correspondingly massive amount of sight. It’s most apparent on left turns as the driver looks and sees nobody on the road…cos his vision is blocked. The new pedestrian lights that have people walking into the intersection before the light turns for drivers works in this situation.

You can faintly see that the light was still green when he started to cross the street he jumped the gun people do this all the time they opposite light read and start crossing early

This happened to me except it came from behind and I was hit. I had clear right of way. 3 surgeries later and I can now walk at least. Drivers really need to pay attention at cross walks

Having pedestrians and vehicles scheduled to use the same space at the same time is THE most retarded part of North American roads. Right turns are the worst - look left for vehicles while looking right for pedestrians. What could possibly go wrong?!

In Pitt meadows(I’ve seen it elsewhere), they have a time delay on pedestrian crossings. Instead of both signals turning at the same time and having a scenario like this, pedestrians get a 5 second head start to walk across the intersection.

We can't see the "walk/don't walk" light, but it's possible the pedestrian is correct in this case. He's also stopped and didn't push his luck, knowing that he would lose against a car.

The pedestrian could have made himself more visible. Always be aware of your surroundings people and make yourself visible. Don’t trust any vehicles. And vehicles, make sure coast is clear, lots of short kings lurking in the cross-walks!

Trucks have these stupid blind spots at the door post. That makes it hard to see a pedestrian while turning. Not making excuses for the driver it's just a reality.

Modern vehicles have huge A pillars

New truck designs are awful for visibility. The curtain airbag bar in my 21 tacoma absolutely swallows pedestrians whole when I'm turning left and I have to lean forward and back to ensure the crosswalk is clear. Unfortunately a lot of drivers don't give enough of a shit to do so
