its 4, but its obnoxious because there is an implied 2nd set of parenthesis around the 5(7-4), its actually better expressed as 60/(5(7-4))

Multiplication and division are inverse operations, so the order in which they're applied after parentheses & exponents doesn't matter. The answer's 36.

My dudes. Multiplication and division are exactly the same. Dividing is just multiplication of the the reciprocal. Always left to right for multiplication and/or division. Just type that formula into any calculator or Excel as it is. 36 every time.

5(7-4) = (35-20) It comes from the theorem that a(b-c) = ab-ac) If it were 5*(7-4) it would be completely different. (36) People always forget the outside number on the left is included with the parenthesis. The answer is then 4 At least you have the dolphins @JoezMcfLy
