'People assumed that a full impact assessment would have been done for the safety and health of pensioners and it hasn't been. That feels like a terrible mistake' Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder question Peter Kyle MP over Labour's new winter fuel policy.

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder And his answer is £22 bn black hole which the treasury can’t confirm to the FT under a FoI request!

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder There's no sign of an impact assessment here, and it's highly likely there was none for the VAT policy on independent schools. Labour seems to be playing ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ with their policies, which is deeply troubling.

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder It’s no good saying pensioners will get a pension increase NEXT year, if they are going to die this winter …

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder The Labour Party are rapidly proving to be the real nasty party and Starmer is an abject failure with an approval rating of minus 17. Shame on the Labour Party for refusing a FOI request to provide evidence of the alleged £22 bn black hole.

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder He’s conveniently leaving out that everything has risen in price and that rise in their pensions won’t even cover those let aline the fuel rise!

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder He's just admitted there with the increase of £400 next year, people will fall out the bracket of pension credit so will lose the £300 winter fuel and then potentially be taxed on the pension too which means an increase will make them WORSE off. Disgusting the lot of them

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder Is he just not understanding? He says about pensioners will be better off next year, they are thinking about "Now" not "next year" that's like someone saying "I'm hungry, I need food" then being told "we will give you some next year" ...pensioners will die this year

@kategarraway @RobbieRinder And remember folks...they have the money, it's not about not having the money, the money is there, we just have the wrong people distributing it. Billions to other countries, millions on hotels, yes the money is there, pensioners need help now, guess now it's postcode lottery
