you know, there are easier ways to deal with pirates... its called sink them. Q-ships should come back in fashion. Come in range, cover comes off the 5", and pirates get hulled.

I'd just get a very strong pump... and a water cannon. You know how hard it is to board a boat with 500 gallons a minute shooting in your face? It would cost almost nothing, violate no laws, and keep anyone from getting on your boat.

20mm guns and a loose weapons status condition policy would lower the risk of piracy for the target vessel.

Are they not allowed to have armed personnel?
