An executive at another studio saw a piece of the film and told him, “Trust me, if they ever make a movie about Deadpool, you’re the only guy that can play Deadpool.” The executive then sent Reynolds several Deadpool comics, and the very first issue he opened contained a bizarre coincidence. “The first issue I opened up, I was on the panel. Deadpool was saying that I look like a cross between Ryan Reynolds and a Shar-Pei.” Reynolds says he immediately realized how strange the coincidence was: “I was like, ‘Jesus, this is fing destiny. What the hell?’”*
