People forgot that Apple has been mastering hinge mechanism for decades. MacBooks have the best hinge mechanism in the laptop industry since forever. So, it’s really no surprise if the iPhone Duo also ends up having the best hinge. #iphone #mac

If, like me, you were wondering how to show the slider to control the hinge angle in the iPhone Duo simulator in Xcode 27.1, we need to hold the Option key to reveal it 🙂

my *two* new apple developer sessions are out :’) really proud to have worked on these for iPhone Duo, making sure the system does the heavy lifting so developers can get the best experience across every pose 🦋

The hinge mechanism in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold2 is an interesting engineering solution. The foldable screen needs a certain amount of curvature; otherwise, the screen can break. The hinge uses a special CAM structure with two ridge-shaped parts that interlock in stages, helping keep the device unfolded for Flex Mode. The Galaxy Z Fold2 also has stronger retention force, keeping the device unfolded at 180° and preventing it from accidentally closing. Because of the larger form factor, the Fold2 uses more CAM structures and springs than the Galaxy Z Flip, while still maintaining a small and intricate design

It's kinda crazy that with an iphone and 15 minutes you can produce accurate 3D scans and point clouds this is a part we're reverse engineering for a customer, window hinge from the 30's, no CAD or drawings available

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, their first folding iPhone. Looks like they've solved the center crease issue that many folding phone screens have. Probably won’t get it since the 18 Pro has better cameras and battery life, but it does look pretty sweet.

So it turns out, it's more than just the name that Apple borrowed. iPhone Duo is the first folding phone I've seen copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing system pretty much 1:1! iPhone Duo can treat each half of the folding display as separate, letting you dock an app to one side and view your home screen on the other, just like Surface Duo. The gestures for multitasking are identical between iPhone Duo and Surface Duo too. You drag an app to the side you want and it fills that half of the screen. You can pick the app up and move it to the other side, and everything will dynamically adjust. It even does the "automatic" multitasking that I've raved about on Surface Duo. If you open a link in an app, it'll move the app over and open the link in your browser. Surface Duo did this, and now iPhone Duo does too. I've been waiting for a folding phone to copy the Surface Duo's unique multitasking and windowing behavior, and we finally have one in the form of iPhone Duo. Well done, Apple. Between the wide form factor like Surface Duo, the pen support like Surface Duo, and now the multitasking like Surface Duo... I think Surface Duo fans may have finally found their Surface Duo 3 in iPhone Duo.

YOOOO, Apple forgot to tell us whether the iPhone Duo has 120Hz ProMotion on both inner and outer display or not?? I would be shocked if they support upto 1hz-120hz LTPO+ ProMotion on both displays, putting iPad mini in rip mode 🤯 They also didn't mention about the PWM rate 🫩

Bezel 1.0 is available now! Show an iPhone on your Mac simply by plugging it in. It has a hyper realistic frame of the connected iPhone making it look amazing. It was such a joy to build a Mac app that makes complex things really simple. Try it for free:

So legitimately excited to finally get to unveil some of the work myself, Ben J, and some of my peers have been working on for the iPhone Duo. Seriously so much fun, and was wild to see it featured in the Keynote

Apple just redefined the smartphone era with the iPhone Duo. This isn’t just another foldable—it’s full iPad mini-level productivity engineered into a razor-thin pocketable device. Apple took its time to solve the form factor properly, debuting an invisible crease, dual-battery architecture, and custom vapor chamber thermals. Key highlights: Silicon: Next-gen A20 Pro chip delivering unprecedented efficiency and power. Form Factor: Book-style hinge transforming a sleek everyday phone into an expansive canvas. Software: Adaptive multi-window multitasking built natively for iOS. Pricing & Availability: Starting at $1,999, pre-orders open October 16. The wait was long, but Apple entered the foldable arena to dominate it, not just participate. Are you making the switch, or staying on a classic slab? #AppleEvent #iPhoneDuo #TechNews

Apple iPhone 16 vs Pixel 9: Which one should you buy? The iPhone 16 is more of an iterative upgrade over its predecessor, but the Pixel 9 brings several notable upgrades, especially in the camera, design and chipset. While the Tensor G4 may not be as fast as the iPhone 16’s A18 chipset, it no longer heats up and is pretty fast when it comes to multitasking and completing AI-powered tasks. If you are already a part of the Apple ecosystem and have the iPhone 14 or an older device, the iPhone 16 might make sense. On the other hand, the Pixel 9 with its smart AI features, solid design and capable cameras might appeal to to those who want a phone that will get software updates for years to come and want to enjoy the clean user interface stock Android has to offer.

Getting harder and harder to keep an actual physical shop open, the way the club has stopped people taking bags in the ground and the extra searches we think that it’s having a massive effect on our sales,a lot of our business in the beginning was mates and locals unfortunately due to the cost and hassle of now the way it’s gone to get tickets a lot have stopped going the game, most games this season the shop has been really quiet but we have to keep it stocked the best we can,a lot of the online companies doing what we do are print to order so don’t have to keep stock hopefully things will pick back up as we love having the shop open on matchdays 👍but also we would have to weigh up the cost of running the building and upkeep so if you want to keep local business going please support them on a matchday 👍
