Given that it’s Ridley Scott Week, I think now is as good of a time as any to revisit The Last Duel. Written by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon, I think this is one of Scott’s better films in the last 15 years largely because the writing is so strong. That’s without mentioning that the entire cast is also excellent. I really, really enjoy Damon’s performance here. This film is proof that even in his 80s, Ridley still has his fastball.

🐈 Actually, even if I were to quit this someday, I think that would be the biggest reason. The reason I can’t quit this job is because, first of all, I’m not alone anymore. When I debuted, I was by myself, but now I have all of you. So even if one day I start to dislike this work and it gets really hard, that’s why it feels a bit scary. It’s frightening. Because these relationships have become so deep. For me, those 7 years passed by so incredibly fast, right? But I don’t think the time ahead will pass slowly. It’ll probably fly by just as quickly. At that point, the situation might change, my feelings might change, and there might really come a day when I want to stop. In those moments, I think I’ll be very conflicted. That’s why I want to keep doing this for a really, really long time.. healthily, smiling, together with the people I love. Someday we’ll all become grandpas and grandmas, right?
