People thought the Internet would make censorship impossible. It turns out to have made global totalitarianism possible. The global war on X, free speech, and Elon Musk was years in the making. It even includes a UN effort to impose Islamic blasphemy laws on the West.

In this fascinating and disturbing presentation, @PaulColeman, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom, explains how the censorship efforts we see unfolding today in the EU are just the tip of the iceberg. This censorship is based on the “idea that there's just too much information out there, and we need to control it,” he says. Adds Coleman, “The average person on the street has no conception of how enormous the bureaucracies of these international institutions are…. Due to Covid, the WHO [World Health Organization] became very prominent in everyone's minds. But the WHO within the United Nations system is just this tiny little line item. That's it.” Most disturbing is that the UN and EU have formed an alliance with 57 Muslim states that are members of the “Organization of Islamic Cooperation” to demand mass global censorship. “It's a major driver of censorship,” said Coleman, “as they seek to essentially create, within the Western context, global blasphemy laws.” It’s easy to see where this is headed: anyone in Europe who criticizes mass migration from Muslim nations will be accused by the EU of “religious hatred” and could be persecuted. “What the EU is trying to do is make hate speech an EU crime,” said Coleman. “What that means is it is enforceable across the entire continent.” And hate speech would be a serious crime and be equivalent to crimes like human trafficking and terrorism. And there's only a half dozen of them within the treaties of the European Union that are considered EU crimes.
