People with eating disorders are still experiencing harmful stereotypes and misconceptions about their disorder. That's the warning today from the eating disorder charity Beat, which says these attitudes are preventing people from getting crucial help. Will Godley reports.

@willgodley Sorry, not something I’d indulge in, but it’s their eating that’s causing the stereotypes. 🙄

@willgodley So there is a 99.99% chance i have Arfid but Dr's won't even entertain it because I'm sitting on the border of "perfect weight" i have been trying to put weight on for years with foods I can actually eat without being sick or panicking over .. but no i can't get help, I look ill

@willgodley In the 80s being male with anorexia was unheard of and non helpable. Today more specialists know that this affects all genders and having an eating disorder in no way is a sexual orientation giveaway. Find support and get help. It’s very very possible and needs the right approach
