Man is fighting for his reputation. He knows if City is convicted his achievement at City becomes diluted. Regardless I think City are guilty just as much as I'll love the same probe on Chelsea's business. Pep can't leave City now cos the timing isn't right for PSG.

This is not a staunch defense of his employers, it's rather him making it easier for himself to walk away by showing his utter faith in them and what they told him and emphasizing the betrayal against him should they be found guilty.

He talks as if they were proven guilty for the charges brought by UEFA, they argued that the time limit to prosecute for said charges has expired according to UEFA rules. They were lucky. I am guessing he knows he will be long gone before they are found guilty.
