They now control territory stretching toward Bab el-Mandeb and, according to Escobar, are looking next toward Taiz and the oil and gas region around Marib. But the bigger problem for Riyadh is geography. Escobar says the Houthis are deliberately allowing most shipping through Bab el-Mandeb while targeting Saudi oil traffic, ships bound for Israel, and American and British vessels.
