One of the worst things you can ever do is tell a child that he can never be good enough and that his worth will always mean nothing. The caste system does exactly this. Hearing such sentences even one time can destroy their lives, and they will spend the rest of their lives in a state of anxiety. They will succumb to perfectionism, trying to prove their worth even in meaningless things. They will no longer be able to relax or chill. They will always try to overcompensate.
