This robot, called Salto, is inspired by how squirrels leap and balance in trees. Researchers studied how squirrels adjust their movements to stick a perfect landing. They then programmed Salto to mimic these techniques, helping it land safely on narrow surfaces. They programmed it to adjust its posture mid-air, extending or crouching based on its trajectory. The robot also uses a passive gripper for stability, though it doesn't actively grip like a squirrel. By combining biology and engineering, scientists are making robots more agile than ever. P.S.
