My drawings to start things off

Its been really interesting to do this design on full auto. Almost everything in the app is done with image models so I needed a good look-book for characters / UI. Did this before any of the final art, did my tweaks here for consistency (within acceptable tolerance).

A lot of my feedback here has been visual, either with annotation or screenshot surgery.

so I have a tldraw offline file where my agent does screenshot dumps (every screen in the app, specific states if I ask for them)

Most interesting was just how much art we can fit in here. That's the place where more is easiest, once the direction is set. For example, the app is fully voiced using a tts model. When I added character genders (a request from my stakeholder) I generated new voice lines, too.

Also the story itself is on tap. The new models are quite good at coming up with lore once you give them a good starting place. I designed in a few "empty spaces" or character interactions that had nothing to do with the game, but where lore or story could be revealed.

How much lore and story? Uh lots, I guess. Why not? Simple quest mechanic, character definitions, and rewards, and let it rip. "ask x about y", "x says bring z to k for the answer", "k gives you the answer but wants j from x", "x rewards you with item for the answer," etc.

I'm doing a ton of steering / nit design. Most math games are obtusely educational and the model wants to do that too. I want this one to never actually mention the math in the story, but just use it as a mechanic.

The mechanic is amazing! It uses spaced repetition and other strategies under the hood along multiple learning goals. It's fun to create actual gates and challenges based on what the player has learned.

Depth is also requiring a lot of clever tricks. For example, the generated images (throughout all scenes) use a key color (magenta) for hair, allowing us to customize hair throughout the game without regenerating assets

I'm not sure if the models are so stable to produce accessories that we can overlay on top of the various poses, but early indications are that this will work (again, within generous slop tolerance)

I would honestly pay money for this. Or for a subscription to some edutainment marketplace from parents for parents where you can remix anything I grew up on Math Rescue and Math Blaster Search for Spot and learned to read with Lucasarts adventures I was shocked to find how bad and not fun the few education games I found on switch or iOS were

Wow I want this slop and to make this kind of slop, nice again!
