Perplexity’s CEO Aravind Srinivas: how a single power user can now consume as much compute as an entire small team. "There are real engineers at Meta and other companies spending around $10 million a year per engineer on these coding tools. There are users in Perplexity Computer, who spends... upwards of $10,000 a month. Their business runs using agent loops that are running inside these harnesses. Even internally inside our own company, there are some people who have set up these kinds of multi-agent hierarchies and agent loops that look like their own software architecture. I often ask these people to come explain to the rest of the company, “Hey, what are you doing with these tools? Cheaper tokens were supposed to shrink the bill. They raised it. Ten thousand a month per user is someone running agent loops around the clock, which nobody could afford when a call cost real money. The unit price fell and the total spend went up.

Sadly stupidity has become a prerequisite for having an opinion because those 13 million illegals are also not racking up hospital bills crowding schools and taking resources from American citizens such as jobs. Not to mention the fact that we are a nation of laws and that chaos is the work of the devil because God loves order. The entire concept of a nation is a biblical concept. There is nothing wrong with actually having laws and secure borders. If we are going to just say that we are a free-for-all, then we are going to crumble under the weight of supporting every single person who comes in here however they want to. These are just ridiculous arguments that make no sense to me whatsoever and what are you doing to? The people who came here legally who had to wait for years and pay thousands of dollars how come they got screwed in the process? What are these people thinking?

Old software engineering patterns are coming back because of coding agents. Dax Raad(dax), co-founder of AI coding agent OpenCode, on why DDD is becoming more relevant and less painful: “I think it's the same problem as always, which is how do you make code bases that are easy to work in, scalable, that can flex to new requirements. A lot of the old patterns for me are coming back. We've always been a big domain-driven design company. We did it in a very light way. We're now doing it in a much heavier way because we find that these, kind of boring, enterprisey patterns end up being pretty useful because you have a bunch of idiots on your team now. Coding agents are a bunch of idiots. They are going to work 24/7 and they're going to ship a lot of stuff so you need way more guardrails than you used to. What's nice is some of these old patterns we hated because they were very verbose, they produced reliable code that was modular and safe but they were very verbose and annoying to type out… you're not typing it out anymore. Now you can get the benefits of these patterns without the downsides."

Fred Matiang’i: I believe people who say police are working with goons, and I tell them that is because of the failure and dysfunctional nature of the security sector. I know Kanja is a very good policeman, in fact, probably one of the best police officers this country has ever had. I know Noordin. We worked together; he was the DPP at that time. These are people who, if left to work on their own, would deliver a safe, clear, and clean Kenya. Some personal hot takes from AI: engineer Miami follows... 1. Software development is a dead-end profession because anyone can be a software developer now. 2. Anyone can use Cursor or any other tool and generate code. Being a coder and being a software engineer are different. 3. Computers used to be gated; now everyone has the power to make computers malleable. Everyone is a software developer now, but that does not mean they are software engineers 4. If you cannot demonstrate how a coding agent works, you are just a consumer and have imposed an artificial glass ceiling on your career as a software engineer. 5. If you are curious, you will have a job. If you have not been curious in the last two years, you are replaceable. 6. SaaS per-seat economics may become unstable as customers need fewer people to achieve results, prompting founders to think about new unit economics 7. Most companies will take two or three years (or more!) to figure out AI transformation. 8. Some companies are already building AI native teams of five to ten people who can build with the grain of AI 9. There will be an explosion in the number of software developers.
