Well stated and articulated. And yes… surveillance is antithetical to a free society. The bill of rights speak specifically to this aspect. I am old enough to remember that the notion of surveillance by any government authority was extremely taboo. It required a WARRANT. And is … UN-AMERICAN. That’s what the Nazis did and is one of the reasons why we want to war against Germany. We are living in real-time what many people questioned about the Germans then, why did they allow a surveillance state to occur? The same way it is now. And by the very same people no less.

That differentiation between surveillance and witnessing was spot on.

The people are distracted by just living. There is no TIME for the people to rebel against the state, where surveillance is concerned. Anyway, those in the seats of power will just say no to any change that the people want or demand.
