Buttigieg: Usually you're trying to fight those kinds of price effects that consumers are facing, not doing what the Trump administration is doing, which is actively causing them. Vladimir Putin launched a war. The result was that there were supply shocks and oil went up, and then we all did everything that we could in the administration, and all of us as Americans, did what we could to deal with that. Here you have a very different situation. The president launched a war of choice, and now we're all dealing with the consequences and the people who are paying the heaviest price, of course, are the service members, many of whom have given their lives, over 200 have reportedly been injured. But also every American is paying the price. Mortgage rates are going up because of this war. Grocery prices are going to go up because of this war. And of course, the price of gas is already way up because of Donald Trump's war.

Buttigieg: If I was advising President Trump, I would advise him to start by speaking the truth to the American people because when he says it's going to be four weeks and then breaks that promise it reminds people of when he said he wouldn't start this war and broke that promise. I don't want to let it slip by that Trump accused the NYT of TREASON over the weekend because journalists dared analyze how poorly his Iran war is going. Especially because the FCC has, at the same time, shown interest in revoking broadcast licenses for critical coverage of the Iran War. We are working to take this free speech suppression weapon away from the Trump Admin. From me.

They protested the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini for not wearing appropriate hijab and the regime answered with bullets aimed at their eyes. They wear the scars of a dictatorship that fears freedom. So tell me: Are you against war, or just against confronting the regime that wages it on its own people? Maybe the regime that declares war on its own girls is the problem. Regardless of what anyone thinks about the policies, policy decisions, or the president and that's true. Whether it was the four Americans killed in Benghazi during the Obama administration, or the 13 service members killed during the Afghanistan withdrawal during the Biden administration, or the many other American troops who have fallen. It is a tribute to those Americans. I've never heard any veteran until Hegseth today say that the news media covers fallen service members too much and too prominently.

And there are reports that the CIA is arming groups — separatist groups in Iraq and on the border of Iran — that could cause civil war and mass chaos and instability for years to come. There are also reports that the Trump administration is looking at making a deal with somebody else in the IRGC. So it is just so, so poorly planned — unplanned — and just a very, very dark time for this country and the world.
