Blames these immigrants for shortage of homes. Last year he was saying people can’t get childcare, can’t get into a school, can’t rent a home, because of immigration. Always the dog whistle.

Indeed and if he does take an axe to migration as he claims and not exempt carers as he’s refusing to do, you can imagine the problems we’ll have, we don’t have enough people in the care workforce as it is and cutting off immigrants in this industry would be catastrophic.

It's not just the Aged Care workforce. I spent over 3 weeks in hospital lasy year. At least 80% of nursing staff were from overseas bought in through our skilled migration program. That was in a private hospital. I've heard that public hospitals are just as reliant on overseas workers. Will nursing and medical staff be exempt from Dutton's migration cuts?

Reality is that aged care could not survive without migration - at the moment, in Sydney, this includes a lot from Nepal.
