Is it in line with democratic values? Because frankly, it isn’t. If you’re willing to sacrifice American values and democracy, then you can wave all the flags you want, but you’re not an American—you’ve decided you want a king, and you’re okay with that. Well, it’s quite remarkable that you have a DOJ that is willing to make statements to a court in its briefing that it’s not willing to swear to. If you’re making these representations as an officer of the court, then why is it too much to ask that you make them under penalty of perjury? And this is something the DOJ has not been willing to do.
