Phang: The DOJ in this case was trying to make a claim that I should just be chasing down this information via FOIA. "Oh, Ms. Fang needs to go and get this via FOIA." But when we filed our reply, we made it clear that FOIA has very specific limitations that would prevent a lot of this information in the Epstein files from coming out. So then we got our hands on a response from the DOJ. It was a letter sent to a gentleman who had filed his own FOIA request seeking information from the DOJ pursuant to FOIA regarding Ghislaine Maxwell and Todd Blanche. And what did the DOJ say? The act imposed legal obligations on the DOJ. One of my clients was named 538 times in the latest release. It is unacceptable. And the whole reason they're claiming that they were almost a month and a half late to reveal these documents is they needed to redact.

And there are all these other victims that came subsequent to Maria's reporting in 1996. We let them down because somebody like Epstein being out of custody and others that were perpetrators, there's the very real possibility we might not have had this many victims and survivors.

I just got off a Zoom call with some of the Epstein survivors. The way the DOJ has handled the release of these files is absolutely horrific. Victims' names have been released, they are being retraumatized, and the DOJ is saying they won't investigate further. We need justice for these survivors.

I've seen the Epstein files that are with the Oversight Committee, and I can tell you that the only redactions are to protect the identity of survivors. Our subpoena to the DOJ calls for the full, unredacted files to ensure accountability and transparency. It's past time for the Trump admin to comply and release the files.
