I’ve been running hard these past weeks, from D.C. to New Jersey to states across the country. Long days. Too little sleep. Fired up by what’s happening in our nation. And yet, in the middle of all of it, I keep meeting people carrying burdens heavier than mine who still choose kindness. Recently, I went into a hot kitchen after an event to thank the staff preparing the food. One man was sweaty, clearly grinding through a long day. I thanked him and started to walk away when he stopped me and said: “Hey man, you okay? You look like you need a hug.” I was stunned. I came to encourage them, and somehow he saw me. Truth is, I did need that hug. That moment reminded me: kindness is power. Seeing people is power. Taking even 30 seconds to lift someone up can change their whole day. Today, check on someone. Thank someone. Encourage someone. You never know who needs the hug.

Axie started in 2018. Creatures you could collect, battle, and raise while learning about a magical new technology called blockchain. Part of the original concept were axie homes called Terrariums. Places where your axies could live, get stronger, and harvest resources. Battles ended up getting prioritized instead, and Terrariums got shelved. But for eight years, that original idea held a special place in our hearts. Terrariums are a nod to that original dream. We're hard at work and our goal is to deliver the first version in late June. Here's how they'll work on day one: 1. You activate a plot of land. 2. You put your axies on it. 3. Every hour, the world ticks forward on its own. While you're away, your land is working. 4. It earns a reward called bAXS, the in-game currency that feeds back into the broader Axie economy. 5. To stay running, your land burns a fuel called Lunium. You get it two ways: buy packs, or let your land generate it slowly for free. 6. How much you earn scales with your axie power, a stat currently called Atia's Flame. Stronger (collectible) axies earn more points. More points means a bigger share of the prize pool. 7. Each land type has its own pool, split between everyone who owns that type. 8. There will be free terrariums that can be used to earn axie experience points (but not bAXS). These should also be useful for onboarding newcomers. The moisture question always comes up when I post pics of my indoor pools on my new builds. Step by step below on how I control it. We create a room where moisture can’t escape into other areas of the home while also having a mechanical system in place to pull the moisture out of the air so mildew/mold don’t ever develop in the pool room itself. In the STR space, investors are trying to stand out. Pools rent. Indoor pools rent even better. You can swim in the winter or summer. 1) Pool is always built on lowest floor inside (generally basement structure) 2) Concrete block wall for basement with very little wood frame 3) Densglass (kind of like a moisture resistant drywall) attached to concrete block 4) Special stucco just like you see on exterior of homes sprayed onto Densglass. The stucco is dyed to color of my choice. 5) Industrial grade dehumidifier (I use Santa Fe or Watchdog Brand). The humidity pulled from air is pumped back into the pool system near the mechanical room or outside. 6) Mini split for the pool room. Main floor HVAC covers the sleeping rooms, bathroom of basement and is always separated from pool room. You don’t want chlorinated air running through a main HVAC system. I look at having to replace the minisplit & dehumidifier about every 4 to 5 yrs because of the chlorinated air that goes through them. 7) Exhaust Fan leading to exterior which also pulls humid air out of the room as a supplemental support for the dehumidifier. When overhead lights are turned on, we have it so the exhaust fan kicks on as well. That’s it. We create a “bubble”, where no moisture gets into the other areas of home and the humid air gets pulled from the pool room.

The school has gone to incredible lengths to hamstring this event, including: 1 - Forcing us to change our ticketing system the day of the event. The university's excuse is they want to ensure "fair and equitable" ticketing. This means the hundreds of students who thought they had tickets will not get in. This has never happened at one of our events. 2 - Protester groups were somehow tipped off about the school's new ticketing system and the timing of when they'd be made available, allowing them to reserve large numbers of tickets to stage a walk out. We know this because our students are also in those group chats and alerted us. This also has never happened before. 3 - We had thousands of people register for tickets to this event, but the school would only give us a venue with 330 seat. No overflow. No larger venue. 4 - Our chapter president has been doxxed with his number and address published on social media. The campus police and school administrator shrugged their shoulders. 5 - The administration has said they cannot step in or ask protesters to leave if they attempt to disrupt the event or shout down Kyle. 6 - The school has allowed into the event the student that doxxed our chapter president, knowing this person was responsible for the doxxing. 7 - The protestors have entered the event and are taping the names of the people involved in Kyle Rittenhouse’s legal defense. The school is not stopping them. This is what happens when school administrators pander to petulant children. You get chaos. Our brave students will press forward but this is unacceptable, especially in a Tennessee. While working on a new video with solutions to the previous one, I found ChatGPT's new UI struggles even more with concurrent updates: entries lose state and stick around for too long (see video). If this was a LiveView app, we would be getting so much flak.😅 --- I believe part of the problem here is having separate mutate and fetch requests on every deletion. The first fetch is cancelled when the second one comes up, causing items to stick around for longer. Many said yesterday that you could do the mutation and fetch as a single request, but that leads to other problems, such zombie entries. For example, imagine you delete link1 and link2 within a brief period of time. There is no guarantee the deletion order in the database will match the order the client receives the response, so you may end up with this: 1. (client) request to delete link1 sent 2. (client) request to delete link2 sent 3. (server) deletes link1 and loads a new list (includes link2) 4. (server) deletes link2 and loads a new list (no link1 or link2) 5. (client) receives link2 response 6. (client) receives link1 response So if you choose to use the latest response (link1), you brought link2 back to life. If you say you will use the response from the last request, events 3-4 can be swapped, and now you bring link1 back to life. Another way to solve this is by basically not allowing concurrent requests at all but that can affect the user experience drastically in other ways.
