the thing is someone like pharrell can be hard on his kids becuase he’s shown that how he thinks works some of these parents be living in a fucking gutter and then have the nerve to try to act like their kids have something to look up to

They’re trying to not let the child end up like they did so their approach is all that they know based on their experience

You don't decide your kids struggle imo. No one will live with no struggle. The world is harsh enough. They will eventually struggle for everything in this world so as a parent, be their peace.

I 100% agree, it’s naive to say you don’t want your kids to struggle, but life is a struggle no matter what you’re born into. Learning how to deal with struggle is the most important

The way I struggled coming up, times was different. There is no way in hell I want mines to struggle that way, however, like he said, guided struggle, I can understand. Struggle does develop a person who can overcome it. There is enough struggle in the world, he’ll have his chance to overcome as well. I’m not going to add to it tho.

I like that he called it “guided struggle”, which means he’s giving the kids room to grow but he’s not far away if it really hits the fan.

I think he just means he doesn’t roll out the red carpet. Maybe he doesn’t let them do and have everything right away.

There’s a balancing act found when trying to give your kids more than you had while also preparing them to be just as hungry as you were. Make like too easy and they never learn to fish. Make life too hard and they never benefit from your accomplishments.

There’s a big difference between struggle and GUIDED struggle

Never spare kids from the realities of the world they’re inside of now. As will have to confront and conquer to succeed later.

This makes sense to me. Women hear this and say it’s child abuse. Then the kid grow up spoiled an entitled like the mom an shoots a school or somebody house up
