Accompanied by two of the best session musicians and touring players in the business, Nathan East on bass and Greg Phillinganes (I think) on piano and keys. Tight band, man!

The long pause in the middle highlights the odd fact that Layla is two different songs that happen to fit together nicely.

Phil Collins co-produced Eric Claptons 1985 album Behind The Sun and 1986 album August. Collins also co wrote Easy Lover with Nathan East (bass player on stage....who still plays with Clapton to this day). Collins was everywhere in the 1980's, even shaping EC music & band.

Doesn’t get any better? Do you know who Duane Allman is? Duane added the first 7 notes and changed the tempo. Then played the legendary slide. This is Layla as good as it’s ever going to get. It will never be the same w/o Duane.
