Sorcerer turned 49 years old this week. Please believe me when I say you’re doing a disservice to yourself if you haven’t seen this film- it’s a masterpiece. Directed by William Friedkin and featuring Roy Scheider, the acting, story & the filmmaking here are all tremendous. The last 90 minutes of this film, I barely exhaled. I’m begging you to see this if you haven’t already.

The Panic in Needle Park is considered Al Pacino’s first major role in a feature film. This came out just one year before The Godfather but all the signs of a generational star are in this performance from Pacino. I strongly recommend you give this a shot if you haven’t seen it.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is only in Almost Famous for a handful of minutes, but he still delivered a scene that always- always- makes me emotional. I’m not sure if it’s because this film pulls me back to my childhood or if it’s because PSH is no longer with us. Probably a combination. This is just such a beautiful moment. Cameron Crowe thank you for this film & all that you do.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is outstanding in the 2009 release Pirate Radio. This film and this performance don’t get talked about for some reason. PSH plays a free-speech loving hippie DJ who sets out to sea so he can broadcast whatever he wants. It’s a great story and performance.

I thought last year’s Ballerina did justice to the John Wick series, largely thanks to the brilliant performance from Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro. De Armas is a force of nature in this film & her physicality helps nail the performance. I thought this was a really well-done action film that deserved to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Inde Navarrette’s performance is Oscar-worthy & the fact this is a horror film shouldn’t hold her performance back from winning awards. I think Curry Baker’s future couldn’t be brighter. See this film if you haven’t, folks, it’s unbelievable.
