Last workout of the year! As the year comes to an end, I’ve been checking a few baselines to see where I’m at and plan the year ahead. Training’s been a bit inconsistent recently, but with a reduced playing schedule coming up it’ll allow me to train a bit harder and experiment with some things I’ve always wanted to try. It can sometimes get boring over the years if you’re doing similar things relentlessly, year on year. Now that I’ve got a bit more freedom, I’ll be taking advantage of that and adding some fun back in. I’ll be jumping back on the speed train soon too, as my clubhead speed has been down since breaking my ankle last year. I’ll be sharing some of that in the new year and seeing what I can get it back to.

Yeah, but for every Darvas, there’s like 1,000 people who bought the wrong stock and blew up. Your number one job as a trader is to not blow up, okay? And by you do that by risk management. I don’t like the people who, you know, that glorify going on margin in a single stock or in a few stocks. It’s just stupid; you will blow up guaranteed. You’re on 200% margin in a stock. You know it goes down 30% overnight, you have lost most of your money. It’s just not worth it. Like in a bull market. There are so many stocks that go up, okay? There’s no reason to be in margin in one or a few stocks. Just look at the moves from the March lows. There’s hundreds of stocks that have doubled tripled quadrupled. There was no reason to be in one single stock. It’s just ridiculous; it’s the dumbest thing ever. Why would you be in a few stocks? I just don’t get the point.”

If your returns aren't beating 11% a year, you're getting poorer. Global liquidity grows about 8% a year. That's the money supply expanding, and it means the value of the cash in your pocket falls by roughly that much every year. Add maybe 3% of normal inflation on top and you get to an 11% hurdle. Most people think if they've beaten inflation they're fine. They haven't. Inflation and debasement aren't the same thing. Inflation is your money losing value against goods... rent, groceries, fuel. Debasement is your money losing value against assets... property, stocks, the things that actually build wealth. You have to clear both. This is the real reason the rich get richer and everyone else falls behind. One side owns the assets. The other side is holding a melting ice cube.

Insane trade deficits were slicing chunks off GDP. Now we’re seeing multi year lows. Tariffs didn’t create the inflation crisis the media promised. The sky didn’t fall. Now we’re seeing huge growth. Spending came in at 3.5% versus a consensus of 2.5%. People don’t spend when they’re scared. A 4.3% print this late in the year makes a 5% handle in 2026 conceivable.
