And I can almost guarantee that 100% of the people who voted for me, and at least 95% of all residents across Pickering and Durham, do not want higher taxes. People are already struggling. AOC: When people see a ballroom and, at the same time, see their health insurance getting cut off, they know that they are paying for that ballroom with no health care, higher grocery prices, and increasingly unaffordable housing. And so I think people are pissed off about it, and they should be. It’s wrong. This is a complete theft of our money. This is what I want people to understand: this is our money. AOC: I actually meet with MAHA activists because a lot of them really don’t believe that their fight is partisan—and in many ways, it’s not. We do have extraordinary corruption in our agricultural system and in our big corporate system as well. This is an area where both parties and our entire political system have been compromised. You have companies dumping cancerous byproducts, poisoning the communities around them. Then they pay off our political class to ignore it, let it continue, or legally shield them—like with glyphosate—from everyday people trying to hold them accountable. I see how all of these issues that are expressed on the surface as right-wing are actually rooted in the anxieties that we have as working people not being able to afford health care. So it’s also, “How do I stop being sick? How do I prevent being sick by limiting my exposure to things that I think are toxic?” There are things that are actually toxic and things that aren’t, and people take advantage of that. Then, when I do get sick and I can’t afford medicine, what are the holistic and low-cost alternatives that I can turn to because I know I can’t afford to see a doctor? That is a place of tremendous vulnerability that people feel, and it’s immensely legitimate. And then, if you add the racial component too—I’m Puerto Rican. The United States sterilized women for decades. So that is a perfect storm of a lack of trust in institutions that is oftentimes very valid and very legitimate. And you don’t win that by saying, “Oh, don’t worry,” or by condescending to people. We do need to fix our health care system.

This couple is having a wedding that will reflect who they are. They openly don’t seem to care if anyone will actually go or not. I think weddings are a celebration for everyone to join in for a special day. But I also think that offending guests before they even go might be a decision that will turn in a decision full of regret. So here’s my take on this. The way I see it is that they are going to be disappointed. I know others might argue and say that it’s selfish for the guests to not go because of the conditions set forth by the bride and groom, however it goes both ways. If they know guests won’t like the conditions of the wedding, then maybe they should compromise a little. I think they should give people options. I feel that this is going to show the bride and groom who is actually their real friends and who aren’t in their eyes. They won’t care if the guests don’t like the wedding rules, they are going to expect them to go because they think that their attendance shows that they care and that they are local.

The result was that there were supply shocks and oil went up, and then we all did everything that we could in the administration, and all of us as Americans, did what we could to deal with that. Here you have a very different situation. The president launched a war of choice, and now we're all dealing with the consequences and the people who are paying the heaviest price, of course, are the service members, many of whom have given their lives, over 200 have reportedly been injured. But also every American is paying the price. Mortgage rates are going up because of this war. Grocery prices are going to go up because of this war. And of course, the price of gas is already way up because of Donald Trump's war.

I mean, genuinely, they won't even pick up the phone. If I were Mike Johnson, you should be in that office negotiating with Hakeem Jeffries every day until we reopen this government. And any day that you don't do that is a failure. It is a failure. And until there is accountability for people who refuse to work, to work, then we're going to continue to be in this cycle.

It is inconceivable to me why they would do this. Throughout the Twin Cities area, there are numerous families right now, United States citizens that are living in fear, continuing to live in fear. Right now, there are people that are driving around right now with their passports that are United States citizens. And I personally have talked to law enforcement officers who have been pulled over by ICE on pretextual stops, and they have told me these were pretextual stops because of the color of their skin.
