I believe Keir Starmer when he says he didn’t know Mandelson failed his security clearance. His own staff would tell me how things would go on around him. He is an empty vessel. My money would be on the former chief of staff who was Mandelson’s protege and likely promised him this, saying it had to go through at any cost with Olly Robbins doing Number 10 a favour and being thrown under the bus afterwards.
