Reality vs. Photoshop: How doctored images have warped beauty standards for decades—and what it’s doing to young girls.” It’s not new, but it’s everywhere: For decades, magazines, ads, and now social media have used heavy photo editing. Celebrities and pros routinely slim waists, smooth skin, enlarge eyes/lips, lighten skin tones, and reshape bodies. Paparazzi or unfiltered shots often reveal a very different (and still human) reality. The data on harm is clear: Studies consistently link exposure to idealized, edited images with worse body image in girls and young women. This includes higher body dissatisfaction, lower self-esteem, increased anxiety/depression symptoms, and greater risk of eating disorders. Social comparison (especially upward to “perfect” images) is a key driver. Photo editing backfires personally too: Girls who frequently edit their own photos report lower body esteem and more appearance anxiety. One study found 85% of girls have used filters/apps to alter their looks by age 13, and longer editing time correlates with poorer self-image. Filters and edits blur reality, making normal human variation (pores, texture, asymmetry, body diversity) feel “wrong.” Beauty isn’t flawless skin or impossible proportions, it’s real, varied, and human. Real confidence comes from reality, not retouching. Shouldn’t we teach our daughters and granddaughters to find the beauty in exactly who they are? Their uniqueness makes them more beautiful than any filter ever could.

Superbowl Sunday at Stanford’s Experimental Therapeutics Hub 1) Making our hands twitch: A demo of SAINT – the rapid TMS protocol, personalized by prior fMRI analysis, making it much more rapid and efficacious than previous generations of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). They are FDA-approved and seeing 90% remission rates from treatment-resistant depression after an average of 2.6 days of treatment. More: 2) The brain scan on the screen guides the focal point of the magnetically induced activation, and the three retroreflectors on forehead and instrument provide registration, like the virtual filming rig we saw on the Avatar set: 3) “Ultrasonic Ketamine Uncaging for Non-Opioid Therapy of Chronic Pain” — the next study. They have used focused Ultrasound (tFUS) to unlock an engineered molecular cage carrying a small-molecule drug so that the drug is only released in a precise region of the brain (to millimeter-scale). This can verify the mechanism of action in that particular brain region while avoiding systemic exposure and its side effects. They have shown this to work in animal models, delivering higher doses than systemic ketamine administration, and just to the targeted brain region. 4) Self-Hypnosis: We are most hypnotizable at the age of 6-10 years old (a developmental critical period). As adults, about 20% of us are highly hypnotizable and 20% are resistant. We had a similar distribution in Dr. Spiegal’s impromptu test of our crew (the outdoor photo). While we have genetic markers for hypnotizability, there are few correlates with other measurable traits — other than the subjective ability to be imaginative and disassociate from distraction. Hypnosis therapy has been effective for many disorders from anxiety to addiction (e.g., 20% cessation of smoking). You can take the 3-minute self-test here: They have shown that they can increase responsiveness to hypnosis treatments with the SAINT TMS. And I suspect the same will be found in an upcoming study of psilocybin, given its potential to reopen critical periods (ref. Gül Dölen’s work:

🚨ELECTION JIHAD: WE ARE BEING CONQUERED! Niqab-Clad Islamic Supremacist – Lifelong Dem "Republican" Nominee in NC Senate District 22 Can't Even String Sentences Together While Pushing Sharia Creep! Lakeshia (LaKeshia) M. Alston has snagged the Republican nomination for NC State Senate District 22 - unopposed in the March 3, 2026 GOP primary (canceled for lack of filers). Now she's the GOP's "pick" against Dem incumbent Sophia Chitlik in November 2026. Another TROJAN HORSE infiltration... we are watching our states FALL! 🔺Lifelong Democrat roots: Registered voter since 2008, exclusively Democratic primaries and votes through 2024. First GOP vote? October 2025. Sudden switch to Republican on Dec 17, 2025 - mere days before the filing deadline. 🔺 Islamic supremacist agenda - LOOK AT HER! As a niqab-wearing Muslim, her "outfit" isn't just attire- it's a symbol of conquest, representing the military uniform of Islam's push for dominance. This is "election jihad," - she's a plant to spread Sharia from within the GOP, echoing Muslim Brotherhood tactics to infiltrate and subvert American politics. 🔺 Incoherent ramblings in speech: Listen to her address at Union Baptist Church's Social Justice Ministry - she sounds like she can't string together coherent sentences: "sat in on different trials and tribulations for they are a strength if we take the time to study the circumstance... judges are affirmed and oath to help..." It's a jumbled mess of awkward phrasing, grammatical stumbles, and vague platitudes. Yet she CLEARLY pushes: "we want immigration... to grow" with "right legislation" anti-"social injustice" judges ruling "with a heart" 🔺 Niqab photo scandal: The Durham Board of Elections posted (then yanked) her filing photo in full niqab - sparking outrage, memes, and questions about hidden agendas in a Christian-majority state. 🔺Deep-blue district trap: NC-22 (Durham County core) is a Democratic fortress—about 86% Democratic in 2024 (no GOP ran). Republicans barely show up here, making it ripe for this default nomination setup. In her garbled words: North Carolina GOP - where's the leadership? Close primaries NOW to block these jihadi wolves! We are being conquered from within....
