It is bizarre exactly once, after which you understand it and start using strict comparison. Same goes with javascript quirks, and basically any other language strangenesses and language design imperfections. How about million similar stupid situations in C++ for example?

my favorite part is that every hash starting with 0e will evaluate to 0 and every hash starting with 1e will evaluate to 1 your hashing algorithm suddenly has a lot more collisions than it used to!

that’s quite an achievement to come up with a worse comparison operator than JavaScript
