My colleague Representative Frank pointing out that TMA did nothing to defend a doctor’s ability to prescribe Ivermectin during COVID-19. Despite the fact that hundreds, if not thousands, of physicians determined that Ivermectin could have helped their patients, TMA failed to protect the ability of those physicians to prescribe the medication in favor of expensive pharmaceuticals and vaccines. Did you know that 75% of physicians are now employed by larger entities, as opposed to being in independent, private practice? I want you to know how important it is to protect the private practice of medicine. I’m fighting hard to protect the ability of physicians and patients to make independent, healthy decisions. To do that, we have to start in our communities by protecting the physicians and practices that are independent and holding the line in healthcare for all Americans.

Access to breast reconstruction is being denied because of poor reimbursement—and it’s a problem we need to address. Today, I saw a 69-year-old patient who was told she couldn’t get a DIEP flap because Medicare doesn’t pay enough. I hear this over and over. The reality is, CMS reimbursement sets the standard for everyone else, and when it undervalues modern breast reconstruction, patients lose access. I’ll still do the right thing for my patients, and perform their surgeries, even when I lose money—but this system needs to change. It’s time for CMS and this administration to take a hard look at how reimbursements are set. We need a new system that values patient care over profit margins. I’ll keep fighting for that, who else is with me? 💙

Patients travelled to: - Spain: 13 child and one adult patients - Türkiye: 2 adult patients - France: 4 child and one adult patients - Norway: 6 child and 2 adult patients - Jordan: 18 child patients We are grateful to all the governments and health workers for their support and specialised care for the critical patients from Gaza.
