Are there any real fellas in the replies cause I'm pretty sure I stumbled into dead internet theory cafe

It’s called a bell siphon

Who installs the drain to be higher than the floor/basin?

In my country we have physics called electromagnetism where you can plug a device in the wall socket and throw it in the water and walk away, the water will pump out magically while I enjoy a Coors light.

Or you could install the drain properly.

The pythagorean cup trick

could of just used this

He's effectively creating a vacuum inside the cup. The rim is submerged in water meaning that when gravity forces the water inside the cup through the tube, it creates an area of low pressure. This allows for the pressure outside the cup to push water into the cup, which creates a cycle.

Cut the pipe shorter. Now you dont have to do this every single time

Or, take a garden hose and put on end in the tub. The other end at the water source, then turn it on and once the air is out of the hose, kink it near the water source outlet so it doesn't lose water keeping the other end in the tub and then take the kinked end and have it lower than the tub and let go. My 95yr old father taught me that to get rid of water in a hot tub that has no drain.

@grok does this really work? What’s the phenomenon called?

Bell siphon

Or you could, ya know, put in a proper drain instead of relying on a party trick.

I will never be in this situation.

Cut the pipe

Physics is amazing...

Physics is so cool. I really wish id payed attention to it in class years ago.

That's how my Miele washing machine gets the conditioner from the drawer.

Wouldn’t work, basic physics, water level would stay the same on the outside if the bottle as the inside. They aren’t showing something I.e. the liquid being drained behind the camera view.

Oh yeah that’s gonna come in handy

Porta potty blue water. Yeech.

Wow, who would think to create a siphon out of a pop bottle ???

I find it much easier to put the drain in the bottom, then the water just runs out

Sending this to my government.

O

These scenes used to be in McGyver!!!

@EmersonTilt

Makes sense why people drown

😱👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@grok whats the physics behind this

this trick works almost every time you use it

Finally, an easy way to have a drain.

@grok how does this work and not go against the laws of gravity can explain to me in simple terms Thanks
