Her family reported her missing a year before, on April 5, 2024. Her remains were found in Burke's car on Sept. 8, 2025. "Before I get into the description of these charges and their seriousness, I want to look at this as a parent. I am a parent of three children, and a parent's nightmare is a situation where your daughter goes out one night and never comes back," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at a press conference this mornning (Monday, April 20). "Celeste, a 14 year old at that time, went to Mr. Burke's house in the Hollywood Hills. She was never heard from again. "Hochman said Burke killed Celse "to maintain his very lucrative musical career that Celeste was threatening on that particular night." That's the basis for the financial gain circumstance as well as the circumstance of murdering a witness to an investigation. "In this particular case as the evidence will come out in court, the witness to the investigation was Celeste, and the investigation was into the lewd and lascivious sexual acts committed by Mr. Burke that is the subject of count two of this complaint with Celeste while she was under 14 years old," Hochman said.

I woke up stressed. I don’t know why. The boys didn’t clean their rooms. I didn’t sleep the best. I did so much cooking and so many dishes last night. Everyone was too busy. The bugs everywhere need to die already. Bring on the cold to kill them all. I brought the kids to school, then remembered we live in lake country, MN. I don’t know if you can go a mile without finding a lake here. So I pulled over at the next lake I found in town, just to sit awhile, and watch the waterbirds for a moment. It doesn’t take long to reset. You can hear the playground noises in the background.

According to Lauren Conlin, drama unfolded in the courtroom today, with a frustrated Judge Charlaine Olmedo entering the Clara Shortridge Foltz courtroom Thursday morning with several issues she wanted to put on the record. Before testimony resumed for the third day of David Anthony Burke’s preliminary hearing, the judge announced she received an email informing the court’s media office that a content creator in another state was receiving live transmitted updates about what was occurring in court. The judge had previously ordered that live transmitting for this hearing was not allowed, and the order is stated before court begins every morning. An altercation also took place between Beth Silverman and private investigator Steve Fischer, with Silverman accusing Fischer of directing negative comments at her and stating he should not be present in the courtroom as he was previously a witness in the grand jury. Finally, Silverman stated on record that Celeste’s family attorney, Patrick Steinfeld, had spoken with Fischer on day one of the hearing, which she also stated was not allowed. Steinfeld turned to Fischer and stated that he approached the investigator and the conversation only lasted 15 seconds. Fischer ultimately left the courtroom without objection. According to Lauren Conlin, drama unfolded in the courtroom today, with a frustrated Judge Charlaine Olmedo entering the Clara Shortridge Foltz courtroom Thursday morning with several issues she wanted to put on the record. Before testimony resumed for the third day of David Anthony Burke’s preliminary hearing, the judge announced she received an email informing the court’s media office that a content creator in another state was receiving live transmitted updates about what was occurring in court. The judge had previously ordered that live transmitting for this hearing was not allowed, and the order is stated before court begins every morning. An altercation also took place between Beth Silverman and private investigator Steve Fischer, with Silverman accusing Fischer of directing negative comments at her and stating he should not be present in the courtroom as he was previously a witness in the grand jury. Finally, Silverman stated on record that Celeste’s family attorney, Patrick Steinfeld, had spoken with Fischer on day one of the hearing, which she also stated was not allowed. Steinfeld turned to Fischer and stated that he approached the investigator and the conversation only lasted 15 seconds. Fischer ultimately left the courtroom without objection.
