I think Danon is making the wrong distinction here. Calling violent settlers who burn homes, torch mosques, seize property or attack civilians “terrorists” does not mean calling half a million settlers terrorists. Huckabee was clearly talking about the perpetrators of specific acts. And terrorism does not require a Hamas-style organization, budget and command structure. Politically motivated violence against civilians can qualify even when carried out by smaller groups or individuals. Condemning settler terrorism doesn’t weaken Israel. Refusing to distinguish violent extremists from ordinary Israelis does.
