Rahul Gandhi claims his voice isn’t heard in CEC appointments. Ironically since Independence during UPA rule, Congress appointed every CEC on its own with zero opposition role. When questioned in Parliament back then, Congress only said the EC is honest and the opposition need not be involved. CEC after CEC, this was the reward for “honesty”: K. S. Sundaram → Padma Vibhushan Nagendra Singh → Padma Vibhushan R. K. Trivedi → Governor V. S. Ramadevi → Governor T. N. Seshan → Congress ticket 1996 M. S. Gill → Congress minister 2009 to 2011 N. Gopalaswami → Padma Vibhushan Today the LOP is part of the selection committee, back then Congress treated it like its private appointment desk.
