BOSH! A350 HARD LANDING 😮 CX239 from Hong Kong smokes the mains on Rwy 27L during crosswinds at London Heathrow. Watch as the opposite inertia kicks the 230 tonne flying machine all over the place. A real battle between pilot and machine to get that thing straightened up with the rudder - Pilot won it 💪🏻 The direction that thing was facing once they’d caught it, I seriously thought they would Go-Around. Pilots were saying after the show, and I completely understand, that ‘this footage doesn’t replicate the turbulence we experience in the last 2 miles of approach’. I’ve been a passenger during strong winds on approach. Seeing the wing flexing and the flight surfaces going crazy, I imagine the pilots up-front in complete calm: Aircraft crabbing, NFP calling-out the numbers, picking their moment to go manual, one hand on the Thrust Levers, expecting those last-second gusts. Even during a landing like this, you’d be surprised to see just how calm the pilots are when it’s all going-on Get involved ✍️

This is a state-of-the-art integrated atmosphere remote sensing equipment for Fog monitoring, high resolution continuous monitoring of Turbulence, wind speed, vertical velocity, aerosols etc. This will make air flight take off and landing far more safe than before, particularly during the fog and turbulence conditions. India’s first SkyCast system at IGI Airport New Delhi is to be followed soon at Jewar Airport, and subsequently at Varanasi, Ahmedabad, so on and so forth. Automatic Helicopter Landings on Naval Ships Landing a helicopter on a moving naval ship is one of the most demanding tasks in aviation. The flight deck continuously changes its position, attitude, and velocity with the sea, requiring precise relative positioning throughout the approach. The landing sequence uses two navigation systems. During the approach, Differential GPS (DGPS) guides the helicopter along a calculated flight path. Near the flight deck, navigation switches to a laser guidance system, providing centimeter-level relative positioning for the final hover and touchdown. During the automatic hover, the flight control system continuously compensates for ship motion, wind, and turbulence to maintain a stable landing position. This significantly reduces pilot workload and can safely complete the landing even if the pilot becomes incapacitated. The system entered operational service on the JMSDF SH-60K Seahawk, becoming the world's first operational system capable of fully automatic landings of a manned helicopter on a moving naval ship. It was developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
