WELL I was assaulted by a schizo homeless guy today in Toronto. I was walking to the grocery store when he started stalking me. I tried to get away from him but it didn’t work. He grabbed me, pinned me against a fence, and then tried to break my hand to steal my phone. Three people passing by helped save me. The police were quick and kind, but the officer I spoke with told me this guy had been arrested for attacking people repeatedly in the past month, and “fair warning, a judge will probably let him out by tomorrow morning.” 🫠 lovely system we got goin on here folks

How often do we hit those defining moments in life that completely change how we see ourselves and how others see us? For me, it was back in 9th grade. My older brother, who picked on me all the time, smirked and said, “You think you’re pretty tough now, don’t you?” I shot back, “I could take you.” His challenge: “Bring it on, Jethro.” It wasn’t exactly fair, but I locked him up, rolled him onto his back, and pinned him down. All he could say was, “You stink.” Things were never the same between us after that. But there he was, on a battlefield that did not care how old you were. Then it happened. Two enemy grenades landed near his fellow Marines. No time to think. No time to hesitate. Lucas moved. He threw himself directly onto both grenades, pressing them into the sand with his body. He knew what it meant. He knew what would happen next. The explosions hit. Sand, metal, and shock tore through him. His body absorbed the blast meant for everyone else. Around him, Marines who should have been gone were still breathing. He had taken it all. By some miracle, he survived. But survival came at a cost. His body was shattered. Dozens of wounds. Long months of recovery. Pain that never truly left.
