Michigan HC Sherrone Moore - Down Blocks (Gap Schemes) - 1st step = Inside foot at the DL crotch - 2nd step = Outside foot mirrors 1st step to get hips in alignment. Step on DL outside foot. - Eyes look right through DL ear hole - Aiming point for hands = Split Hand Double Punch. One hand on DL pec, other hand underneath the arm pit. Aim for the underneath arm pit because if you miss you still get inside. Underneath arm pit gives you more control of the defender. - "In the run game, you don't move people with your hands, you move them with your feet. Your feet block the defender, your hands guide them." - "You do not want extension. You want to keep the DL as close as possible. Pick your favorite player in the NFL, watch his pancakes/knockdowns. How many of those knockdowns are with their arms/hands extended, probably none of them."
