Most people think The Unloved is a Pixar-style short film. It's actually a Christmas ad by a French supermarket and one of the most heartfelt commercials ever made.

STREET OF CROCODILES (1986): Startling, terrifying stop-motion animation by the Brothers Quay, loosely based upon the short story by Polish writer Bruno Schultz. Channel 4 aired it in one of their animation strands and it blew my mind.

This wonderful MYSTERIOUS MOSE short by the good people at Screen Novelties combines so many of the things I love most: puppets, stop-motion, old jazz, and spooky surrealism. I always love watching this around Halloween. Directed by Mark Caballero & Seamus Walsh.

In 1932, Japanese filmmaker Shigeji Ogino directed a short film known as "Detective Felix in Trouble". Although not an official cartoon, it was the first (and so far only) time Felix was animated using stop-motion, as well as one of the first fan films ever made

A heartbreaking clip from My Way Home (1978). My Way Home (1978) is a minimalist, poetic drama film and a classic of British social realism and independent cinema. This existentialist coming-of-age film is the final part of the autobiographical trilogy of short films directed by Scottish filmmaker Bill Douglas.

I made this short film as a love letter to child-headed households & latchkey kids. This technique is called paint-on-glass stop-motion animation, rarely used in recent times. Please watch the whole filmed here and share with someone who can relate 🖤
