Pixar spent years and significant resources developing new hair-animation technology for Merida’s curly hair in Brave (2012). Their existing system couldn’t handle her wild curls, so they rebuilt it from the ground up, creating a custom model with over 1,500 individually animated strands to make her hair move naturally.

Stupidity on parade .. woman was getting her hair styled at a salon when her hair got tangled in the automatic curler . She’s on the ground while a large group of women are trying to untangle her hair from the device using a hammer 🤨 to be fair, I can’t tell if they actually unplugged the device or not, that’s up for debate, but instead of using the claw part of the hammer to crack open the device they’re just banging it on the curler part while her head is on the ground😳🙄what could possibly go wrong here?

A girl in Japan was banned from her school for having the wrong hair color. In April 2015, a fifteen-year-old enrolled at Kaifūkan, a prefectural high school in Habikino, Osaka. Her hair was naturally light brown, but the school had a rule against dyeing. For context, most Japanese have jet-black hair. Her mother flagged it before the first day, asking them to make allowance because the girl's hair was brown by birth. On the morning of her student ID photo, a teacher said she could not come to school with hair that color. The school decided that her natural hair was, indeed, black. So she dyed it black. Then she dyed it again, because the black was never quite black enough. At its peak, teachers were inspecting and correcting her hair once every four days. She was pulled from the regular classroom into a separate room, and told she would not join the school festival with everyone else. Finally the choice was put plainly: dye it black or leave. In September 2016, halfway through her second year, she stopped coming. She sued the prefecture for 2.2 million yen and won 330,000, none of it for the dyeing. That sum was awarded only because, after she left, the school removed her desk and struck her name from the register. For erasing a student, the prefecture owed her. For the dyeing that drove her out, it owed nothing. The district court, then the high court, held the rule fell within the school's discretion. Nobody with the power to rule otherwise found that unreasonable.

So, I shared this video of iShowSpeed telling a young Zimbabwean lady with natural hair that she is beautiful. I shared it with Dr Solomon Guramatunhu, who is Zimbabwe’s leading eye surgeon and has been a proponent of natural hair for years, educating both men and women about the dangers of using human hair bought from different countries. I do not know who this young woman is, but Dr Guramatunhu asked me to pass on a message. As long as he is still practising as an eye surgeon in Zimbabwe, this young lady will have free access to medical eye-care and consultations at his practice. His practice will also pay for her spectacles if she ever needs them, and will cover all her eye care. This is his way of showing appreciation for her choice to wear natural hair, something that was noticed by iSpeed when he acknowledged her beauty.

Sherri Stoner served as the animation model for Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989) as well as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (1991). Ariel's lower lip biting and Belle's habit of brushing hair away from her face were both Stoner's mannerisms that animators later incorporated into the characters. Broadway actor, Joshua Finkel, served as the animation model for Eric and performed several key scenes with Stoner to help the animators realistically portray the interactions between the two characters. Ariel's personality and body type were based on that of Alyssa Milano, who was starring in a TV show called "Who's the Boss?" at that time. Ariel's underwater hair was based on a combination of footage from Stoner's scene in the pool and footage of Sally Ride's hair when she was in space. Sherri Stoner served as the animation model for Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989) as well as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (1991). Ariel's lower lip biting and Belle's habit of brushing hair away from her face were both Stoner's mannerisms that animators later incorporated into the characters. Broadway actor, Joshua Finkel, served as the animation model for Eric and performed several key scenes with Stoner to help the animators realistically portray the interactions between the two characters. Ariel's personality and body type were based on that of Alyssa Milano, who was starring in a TV show called "Who's the Boss?" at that time. Ariel's underwater hair was based on a combination of footage from Stoner's scene in the pool and footage of Sally Ride's hair when she was in space. Stoner later went on to become one of the writers for Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, and the voice of Slappy Squirrel, the elderly and grumpy tree squirrel.
