Plane passenger documents ‘worst flight’ as toddler repeatedly kicks him. Is this down to bad parenting?

Annoying little shit, no such thing as a bad child, just bad parenting.

Why is the parent not changing it’s seat with the child

Yep, definitely bad parenting. At the very least they could hold the child so it doesn’t directly hit other passengers.

Is this supposed to be admirable? It just shows how weak you are when you sit there & say nothing.

Yes this is bad parenting. If I give my kids the right kind of stare that’s enough for them to stop acting up.

Who wants to put money on this being his kid and click bait. I'll send you my venmo.

No way I would’ve sat through that. Mom needs to switch seats with the child, put the kid away from disturbing passengers.

The parent should have switched seats with the kid so at least he wasn't getting kicked the entire flight. I would have told her exactly that. The flight attendants should have told her that! No consideration for others!

I cannot believe the lack of consideration of the parent. Put the feet of the child towards the other side! WTF?!

"Excuse me... your child is kicking me. Please control him. You won't? Okay." At that point, you call for a flight attendant. That's one of the many reasons they're there. #ThingsThatAreNotHard

I sat at the window by a toddler who was out of control, while his exhausted mother had the aisle seat. I entertained the kid with silly faces, with silly sounds, with clapping, and finally with stories I had memorized that he recognized, pretending to read them out of the in-flight magazine, even though my words did not match the page. I'd read, "Goodnight Moon" and "Cat in the Hat", while turning the pages, and he'd laugh and say "No" but then ask for more. It took an hour, but it was worth it when Toddler and then Mom fell asleep. Delayed airline travel was too much to ask of Toddler, and the mom needed the break. Sometimes, it's not bad parenting. Sometimes parents have to accept what life throws at them.

Very definitely bad parenting. My children have all flown multiple times as babies and toddlers and never once have they been allowed to aggravate another passenger on a plane by kicking, hitting, screaming, or anything else.

@Christy56074523 He should have simply looked at the child and the mom and said “stop” or “no”. Two adults letting this child continue doing this is ridiculous.

Its on the parents. If you cant manage your child’s emotions, dont fly

Its a mix of being a kid, and a parent not distracting the kid. So yeah, a big chunk is poor parenting

Or....you could play with the kid because he's bored. A coloring book goes a long way to peace and quiet. It's not hard to be a man. Put your phone down, take headphones off and act like one!

The parent of that toddler should have restrained and reprimanded that child. That child also. Could have been sitting on that seat like everyone else. I traveled with a toddler by myself several times. He always sat like a big boy and behaved himself. Then, I traveled with my preschooler and a baby. Both were fine and well behaved. Both of my children have always been excellent travelers. As a parent, it is up to you to control your children- they behave as you allow. You’re the adult, you’re in charge. The only exception is when you travel with an infant/baby. How they respond to air travel is a crap shoot and you do the best you can.

Wtf is the parent doing letting the kid do this? Grab the kid and sit him on his arse fgs!! 😡😡😡

mother should have taken the middle seat and in no way allow her child to continue to kick the other person/. There is zero excuse for this.

Looks like a staged video. No parent will allow his kid to behave like this.

For starters, take the shoes off the kid. The next person who sits in that seat will get dirt on their back. And shoes enable seat kicking. Kids in socks don’t kick seatbacks because it hurts their toes. And yes, this behavior is a problem. Entertain your child.

She’s not even trying to restrain him, what a b…

That's the Monk in him kicking in, the Asian patience.

The crying can’t be helped but allowing the child to kick someone is totally unacceptable. Move the child, parent.

Incredibly selfish of the parent to indulge their child in this disgraceful manner. Staff should have intervened too.

Bad Parenting… maybe Shit parent for letting it happen….. ABSOLUTELY!

I do sympathize with the mom. I’ve travelled with toddlers often. HOWEVER, this is unacceptable. Mom needs to keep a stash of toys/activities/snacks to keep baby entertained. Mom’s responsibility. At the very least walk the child around a bit.

Of course it is. I’d never let my child do that and in fact had several compliments on their behaviour. And I’ve never hit them or shouted at them.

Tell the mother to swap seats with her kid. See how she likes it.

No it’s not. Other passengers need to be more tolerant of babies and toddlers on flights. There’s no way they’re going stay Still for hours like adults do. I’ve been next to many and it helps the parents a lots if you help them rather than get angry.

Yes. Don’t let your child do this ? Teach your child to respect others.

first thing you do is move your kid onto your lap or swap seats. Seat belt kid and give them something to do. Doesn't matter if swapping means kid is on aisle seat, you don't have your kid kicking someone else. Keep the kid seated and preoccupy them

It must be the way he has been brought up to put up with this cos I wouldnt have...I would have told that child to stop kicking me in a very mean voice and if the parent had anything to say about it I would deman she swap seats with that child

I honestly would be extra for adult only flights …

Absolutely bad parenting.
