Every great civilization throughout history has had the same demise: over expansion.

And then we can be ruled by fucking idiots who know nothing about the moon or sun or have any fucking clue about how anything works. An idiocracy where total fucking imbeciles try run things are civilisation as we know grinds to a complete stop. Won't that be fun.

Plato maps out how every government eventually destroys itself. He traces this cycle in the book The Republic. It starts with aristocracy, ruled by the truly best. But over time, honor becomes more important than wisdom, creating democracy. Then wealth becomes more important than honor, leading to oligarchy. Eventually, the poor revolt and establish democracy. But unlimited freedom without wisdom turns chaotic, and from that chaos emerges tyranny. Someone promising to restore order through absolute control. Each system contains the seeds of its own corruption. The pursuit of honor corrupts wisdom. The love of money corrupts honor. Unlimited freedom can corrupt responsibility itself. What's striking is how each transformation seems logical in the moment, yet the overall trajectory moves away from justice. Plato wrote this pattern 2,400 years ago, and it still feels recognizable today. Do you see this cycle reflected in history?

I thought people had lost the ability to learn from the past. Socialism will do that to you. Glad to see someone is still smart enough to not fall for it!
