Played WoW Forever for 20mins and had someone randomly invite me to a group and quest together, like the old days. Just two strangers chatting, having fun, making friends. Something I found hard to do in retail.

One time i was top dps while typing in a dungeon and they still kicked me for talking. Shit was dire in retail and i had no idea

Yep, dungeon runs were not it, unless you queued up with a group of friends imo

you guys should kiss

Hi friends. I’m a freelance editor writing a book about my life in gaming, journalism and UK esports covering everything from ‘90s gaming to behind the scenes stories working as an esports journalist. You can follow me & register interest in my book here!

I had this in Albion Online when I started playing, some guy just ran up to me, invited me, and said "come" 😂

Spontaneity like that can be magic in online games/MMOs!

Almost like exactly why it’s designed like this and doesn’t need terrible retail shared mob tagging.

Good luck on your journey Mr Sacco! I can’t wait for it to release

Good luck to you too! Which server type are you thinking of joining? I’ll probably go PVE this time. I tried PVP for Classic and it was fun but I have a feeling it’ll be much harder levelling in Forever

I will be going for PVP and hardcore, I ran a guild on hardcore called <BALAST> which was fun so will continue that. Yeah I will be going slower this time for sure, so much more to do and explore

Oh nice one, good luck! I've just thought of the possiblity of a server that's a hybrid PVP/hardcore one, could you imagine that...

No Thankyou! It would be impossible to level 😂😂

I dont play retail wow or wow at all since legion lol, but recall people still chatting in game. Do people still do that nowadays? I feel like Discord just ruined the in game social aspect of most online games.

Hard to say. I think in Classic they do, and the general chat channels have been active in WoW Forever too.

Does he think you are a chick?

Did you just assume their gender? 😆 No idea, but that did happen to me once... long story, saving it for my book

give people the proper tools and resources to re-live nostalgia, and they will make the absolute most of it :)

It’s the MMO part of the RPG, it’s the best part. I log on every night (8-11pm EST) either on WoW or EverQuest, bullshit with my internet friends & collect loot. I love this, I look forward to it every day.

I WANT THISSSS

Ahh the regular "I have to go soon to bed excuse. That was so common in old WOW"

It was legit for me, I logged on for a quick 20mins!

Sure it is 😉

Retail has evolved into a single-player catering experience whereas Classic/Forever requires social interaction and contact.

It's not hard. It's kinda imposible since retail focus on spaming dungeons and speedrun the world quests. Older versions of the game have this kind of interaction, official classic or private server keep that alive.

No bullshit. I started playing WoW with like 3 weeks left in Vanilla. Not a week into BC met a couple dude getting camped. Formed a group and went to work. The three of us have been friends since that day in 2007. Have met up a few time irl. Such a cool game, if you let it

Welcome to classic buddy.

I did do Classic but stopped at level 40 mainly due to IRL commitments. Loved vanilla though, played that and a bit of TBC. I think Forever’s content will keep me occupied for longer.

You should try the HC experience; it’s very immersive.

I have been very tempted to try Hardcore. What’s put me off is any disconnects or technical glitches mucking everything up. I have less free time to game these days.

I've been playing it for a while; you die more from distraction than from technical issues,it’s a different kind of game, especially when it comes to leveling up. You need to know the region you're farming in and your class inside out.

True, i remember chatting just one hour with that metal fan from germany and a game dev from sweden, short interaction while leveling but the kind of things you remember On Retail it's not natural, for interaction you should force it

The problem with retail is that they bombard you with all these features to do list. Classic is simple. Create character, venture out, quest, dungeon and make friends along the way. Really hope they keep it simple like that.

I say tyfg in my retail keys all the time. Or ggs or ty for inv even if things didnt go as great. Retail has more independence and higher population than classic. I do love that theres less apprehension in interacting with others in classic.

Happens all the time in regular Classic. How I get through most pain in the ass quests.

Very interesting that I came across a WoW post by someone with the exact same first and last name as me.

I have to say it's a great name you have 😆

dude those are the best memories, gonna play in 43 days when beta is finished

time is a flat circle

Probably the best thing about wow forever

I leveled from 1 to max in retail and didnt talk to a single person

This is the way.

Agreed! People readily invite you to party up for mini-boss quests… rescue each other etc … I think it would be thriving alliances by now except we all know it’s gonna reset in November 😭

That’s awesome I’m stoked!

Sadly this experience fell apart in the later years of retail, because everyone was just rushing through the game as fast as possible. Now that you have to go slower, that mood has finally come back - especially with the people who remember it from back then. Really cool!

i think forever looks beautiful, gimme beta key that is not 50$ thanks 😅 also blue checkmarks are just awful across the board, nobel price for |hide blue checkmarks in responses|

theres some kind of magic in this game. I can't wait for it to come back, and I wish it would spread to all MMORPGs. I want that time to come back again

Same. I sometimes spam in local channel quests LFP but I found out its much faster just to go to quest zone and inv ppl that are already around 😅

god i miss this

yeah just random grouping saying thank you and leaving is so much nicer than the soulless world where noone speaks when you genuinely need eachothers help and youre forced to socialise the game is so much better

100%, and some of these little interactions can lead to years-long friendships
