The man who was going to get the wife was soo unserious. You can’t get such a person when you are going to a different culture. Atleast get someone who speaks the same language and knows the culture because what on earth was that? Utter disrespectful👎🏼

U are so spot on. We attended a function in kyenjonjo in 2019 and the mugulusi was straight on point. He denied us access until we had to find a mutoro spokesperson and everything that followed, got me to rethink my choices when finding a woman.

These functions are meant to buy a woman in spirit that’s why they have norms ( obulombolombo) u think they are not necessary until u put a woman at home and never find peace ; these functions are loosing value becoz people turned them into something else, show biz etc but in the right way u are supposed to take only what culture recquires and do what culture requires these functions are meant to deal with the spiritual context of families ❤️

Very good. But the dances on Baganda mikolo you see on tiktok and elsewhere is not part of our Ganda culture. That silly dancing and jumping around is merely rusticism! Amaalo! - by certain classes of people. Not all Baganda. Thanks

It is nothing to do with kiganda culture either. And Katikkiro himself @cpmayiga has publicly criticized it on more than one occasion. Not everything done in Buganda is automatically kiganda. But when it’s something “not good”, many people are comfortable and quick to assume so.

I hate it when people generalize everything as Buganda this Buganda that. Our culture and norms actually don't approve of that crap, y'all have seen the Katikkiro trying to ask people to desist from dancing and theatrics at emikolo...... 💁🏾‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️

Am proud of this Mugurusi for insisiting on the norms and Traditions of @Bunyoro_Kitara , Twina kulinda emirwa yaitu, this Katemba of Kwetinkula should be left to the Lousy regions / Families not from Bunyoro. Habwa Ruhanga ni' hanga Lyange! Bunyoro Jjjuuuu

The mugurusi was tried to be tolerant. If it was Tooro, that guy would have been sent back until they find the rightful Mugurusi to head them. We don't entertain nonsense and 👍🏿 to Mugurusi to be straight forward

But in most cases it's the bride's family that shows what kind of omukolo they want. I've never seen anywhere NGa it's the groom's side opening up dance moves before the bride's side. It's so foolish you saying Baganda yet we also see people from parts dancing

In Ankore we "ebitsya nshoni Nkore Buganda nibyo bitaha amagyenyi" translating to what's forbidden in Ankore goes to Buganda's functions that means if a muganda is marrying from Ankore can't be led by a muganda otherwise you will look like clowns due to norms

That is not our culture in Buganda, its those stupid people who think they are modern and culture no longer matters thats why they behave any how on out traditional ceremony(kwanjula). Others dancing STUPIDLY like fools

Thanks very much. People from central especially Buganda have done a lot to dilute our culture & tradition. They copy things from TV & wherever, thinking they're fun yet it's so disgusting. We're Africans. Our culture is pure & real. we ain't gonna tolerate this nonsense.

Last week in Tooro we chased a family bse they insisted on their “katemba” inspite being warned several times. we advised them to come revert when they are ready to comply with our cultural norms.

Why “play” is one of the reasons societies like Buganda thrive throughout the ages. The opposite of “play” is “tyranny”. If you tell people not to add play to life, you are inviting them to be your slaves. Civilized societies only agree on the limits of the “play”, absent of which, you create rigidity. This is to encourage the cultures that add play to their lifestyle not to be discouraged. It is a contributor to innovation.

If this was in Acholi, they would have chased them away 😹😹😹 and they will show you that it’s not a loss to them. The dramatics these days, MCs crack sexual jokes in a whole traditional ceremony full of traditional elders like where is the respect for cultural norms.

Either way the MC on the girls side having realised the situation, shd have stopped, called the guy to the sideline and give him a brief on the expectations. Its a marriage, culture aside, standing ur ground is not helpful, people need to always focus on solns in such situations.

When two cultures meet, what do you expect? You’re a unhappy man for your relationship failures. Leave Baganda alone. They’ve done a lot for other kingdoms to thrive. And they do things according to their culture and norms too.
