If there are 65,000 actors on Spotlight, how on earth are casting directors going to find the time to earmark actors as not to be cast?? This is why I need to dispel if it is a myth or something that genuinely happens?

That can’t be true, surely. Doesn’t happen in our office x

This is the point. I don’t know either. Is it scare mongering?

No this is not true. The amount of emails they get no one has time to create a blacklist over simple emails. Just keep it professional you’ll be fine.

Thank you 🙏🏻

For contacting them? No. For speaking out about shitty and abusive behaviour, for sure. How do I know? It's happened to me & others.

I am very sorry this happened to you and those you know.

Not for contacting them, surely?! Their job is to find talent so if the talent finds them then that makes their job a little easier, no?! Blacklisted for being a pain in the arse to work with-yeah, I get! And that works both ways x

Well this is what needs to be established. The tolerance line of what is acceptable seems to vary dependant on CD according to the actors who enlightened me on this topic. What’s the pain in the arse or don’t cast threshold? Is it some CD who have this view or many? Does it exist

Nah! Honestly. Why would this be true? I've contacted CDs with information about recently completed work (for example) and then been offered an audition by that CD (not immediately, I might add!) but clearly I'm not on a blacklist!

Well I’m with you. I too, reach out. I’m really questioning as to if this is something that is real, because it is affecting some actors choices, to the point where they are refraining from contacting CDs for fear of being shunned.
