Somalians in Minnesota have been in the news a lot. As someone who has lived in Minnesota my whole life I want to share my perspective. First we need to separate groups. A lot of people are saying things like we should deport all Somalians. That is wrong. Many Somalians were born here or moved here decades ago and they consider themselves American first. They raise families here, contribute to their communities, and see this country as home. Treating them as anything less than American is wrong. With that said there is a different group of Somalians that people in Minnesota talk about privately but are afraid to say out loud. Starting in the late 2000s and continuing since then, large numbers of Somalians were imported here from Somalia who do not see themselves as American, they identify as Somalian only. Many do not speak English, many do not work, and many do not support American law and norms. People who live in Minneapolis or around have seen this. This group has not been a net positive economically, socially, or culturally. They have also gained a large amount of political power in a short period of time. This is why you see Minneapolis politicians speaking Somalian instead of English, and why the Minnesota flag was changed to look almost identical to the Somalian flag. People in Minnesota are not surprised by the recent fraud stories. The scale is shocking but the behavior itself is not. Everyone in Minnesota has seen what Minneapolis has become, and it’s sad. Most people in Minnesota don’t say anything about it cause they know they will get in trouble if they do. This does not mean every Somalian person fits this description, and we should not generalize in totality at all. But Minneapolis is a fallen city, and anyone who lives in it or around it knows this even though most won’t say it out loud.

Open letter to all the good people on the planet from Ukrainians living in Russia-occupied Oleshky, Kherson region. “Help!!! SOS !!! We are residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, we appeal to the people of the entire civilized democratic world. First of all, we want to thank all the caring people who help Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor, and those countries and their residents who gave shelter to Ukrainians who fled the war. We also want to remind you that Ukraine is not only minerals and subsoil, Ukraine is living people... People who want to live in peace and harmony on their native land, to work, build, give birth. People who dream of peace and tranquility, of meeting their relatives, whom this damn war separated them from. People of faith, people of truth, people of common sense - do not let Ukraine and its people be torn apart. Do not let a handful of greedy tyrants destroy and plunder democracy and freedom of speech in their independent countries. How can you live in a country where they decide for you what to watch or what to listen to? In the occupied territories, people disappear without a trace. At the beginning of the war, we went to rallies against Russian troops and against Russia. We did not leave our homes for three days when they held a referendum for joining Russia 'under the barrel of a machine gun’. Ukraine does not ask for help with soldiers, as Russia replenishes its troops with North Koreans. We want to live in a Free Ukraine. We believe that the majority of people on Earth are good and intelligent people. We are Ukrainians. We are not subsoil, we are not minerals, we are living people. We want to live... Mzinga went wandering down memory lane last night! Our nanny extraordinaire was so absorbed by escorting tiny Kipekee home that she bypassed her current stockade and made a beeline for her former baby stable — which is now occupied by young Olomunyak! A milk bottle held by Keeper Simon set her back on course to her rightful bedroom. Every elephant here is an orphan. They are in the first stage of their journey with us, the Nairobi Nursery. In time, they will graduate to a Reintegration Unit, where they will learn how to live as wild elephants. Starting at $50/£35 a year, can become part of their ongoing story through an adoption:
