Michael Powell on how the iconic climax in "Black Narcissus" (1947) was filmed: "In 'Black Narcissus' (1947), I started out almost as a documentary director and ended up as a producer of opera, even though the excerpt from the opera was only about twelve minutes long. Never mind! It was opera in the sense that music, emotion, image and voices all blended together into a new and splendid whole. By music, of course, I mean not only sounds produced by musical instruments, but the human voice itself. Although neither Deborah nor Joseph nor Sister Ruth used their voices for anything but screams, music dictated their movements and revealed their thoughts and intentions. The sequence started with little Joseph- he was certainly one of the great successes of the film- bringing a cup of tea to Sister Clodagh as the colours of dawn spread over the snows of the Himalayas, and ends with Sister Ruth falling to her death. It was planned step by step, bar by bar, by Brian and myself. I wanted to get the maximum of suspense out of the cat-and-mouse play between the two women and we succeeded. The crew were amazed when Brian and I appeared with stopwatches and exact timings when we started to shoot the sequence. I insisted on rehearsing and shooting to a piano track and consulting Brian with a musical score in my hand over each set-up. But it worked! It worked! I have never enjoyed myself so much in my life. For the first time I felt I had control of the film with the authority of the music. It was astonishing to everyone, but particularly, of course, to the camera crew that we were able to compress or speed up the movement of the action just by saying: "No, that wasn't fast enough. We've only got seven seconds for I that bit of action." I was so happy! I swore that this was the only way to make films; and so, of course it is, if they are silent films or musical films. But for me, film-making was never the same after this experience, and it was to lead me and my collaborators into tribulations as well as triumph." This is Warren Pickering's daughter yesterday at the press conference attesting "my father has always been there for us, at the end of the day we always came first." Jamie Walker at The Australian and its editors should be sacked over this. They ran not one but five hit pieces based on historical allegations from decades ago on the word of a clearly unhinged woman (Pickering's ex) who has a history of multiple suicide attempts and drug addiction. I wonder how many of our current politicians could have their adult children speak in this glowing way about them in public? The Australian and the rest of the MSM did this hit job to take down One Nation Australia and Warren Pickering but mark my words: this has backfired. Many Australians (myself included) are meeting Warren for the first time through this story and we like what we see. His adult kids like him and respect him enough to be by his side. That's enough for me.

It is 4:45 in the morning on the second day of my walk from #Kyiv to #Kramatorsk. Vlad from the Okko came to see me with homemade cutlets and pilaf his mother made for my breakfast. He refused to let me leave without eating. And that is Ukrainians. They can be carrying more than most people could imagine, and still they will show up with food in their hands and kindness in their hearts. They will give what they have, even when they do not have much to give. That is why I am walking. I am walking for the people who still choose goodness in the middle of war. For the families who feed others while their own country burns. For the soldiers in my battalion who stand between these homes and everything trying to destroy them. I am the only foreigner in my battalion. I am one of the only voices here that can reach beyond Ukraine. So I am using it. These men are not only defending one line on a map. Once again Labor and the Greens have taken an alarming and undemocratic step by blocking my bill that sought to uphold the biological definitions of 'man' and 'woman' and protect the rights of women before it even had a chance to be debated. This silencing of important discussions is not only an attack on free speech but also a complete disregard for the voices of Australians who support One Nation’s stance on protecting biological reality. As elected representatives, we all have a duty to allow debate on issues that matter to Australians. Women in this country have fought for their rights for generations, and it’s outrageous that their rights are being undermined by a small minority pushing a radical agenda. You can’t disrupt society as a whole when the majority of people in this country are either male or female. By allowing this small group to impinge on women’s rights, their private spaces, change rooms, and sporting events, you are disregarding the very women who have fought so long and hard for their place in society. How dare Labor, the Greens, and Senators Pocock, Tyrell and Thorpe deny women these rights without an open and honest debate! Biological sex is a reality, and it’s critical in how we deal with these issues. It’s quite telling when feminists, who’ve never supported me before, are coming out and saying, “I’ve got to support Pauline Hanson on this one. She’s right.” So what are Labor and the Greens so afraid of? Is this purely about securing votes or political gain? Common sense must prevail. Listen to the Australian people. They want debate. They want answers. They want fairness. They don’t want to be shut down. This government, with the help of a few crossbenchers, is doing everything it can to silence those who stand up for biological reality and women’s rights. Australians deserve better. It’s time to stand up for women’s rights, for biological reality, and for the democratic process. Let’s have the debate, not shut it down. It’s time to put the people of Australia first. This silencing of important discussions is not only an attack on free speech but also a complete disregard for the voices of Australians who support One Nation’s stance on protecting biological reality. As elected representatives, we all have a duty to allow debate on issues that matter to Australians. Women in this country have fought for their rights for generations, and it’s outrageous that their rights are being undermined by a small minority pushing a radical agenda. You can’t disrupt society as a whole when the majority of people in this country are either male or female. By allowing this small group to impinge on women’s rights, their private spaces, change rooms, and sporting events, you are disregarding the very women who have fought so long and hard for their place in society. How dare Labor, the Greens, and Senators Pocock, Tyrell and Thorpe deny women these rights without an open and honest debate! Biological sex is a reality, and it’s critical in how we deal with these issues. It’s quite telling when feminists, who’ve never supported me before, are coming out and saying, “I’ve got to support Pauline Hanson on this one. She’s right.” So what are Labor and the Greens so afraid of? Is this purely about securing votes or political gain? Common sense must prevail. Listen to the Australian people. They want debate. They want answers. They want fairness. They don’t want to be shut down. This government, with the help of a few crossbenchers, is doing everything it can to silence those who stand up for biological reality and women’s rights. Australians deserve better. Excuse me for just a moment while I let my God show. The Great Awakening. This was never about a stolen election. It has always been nothing more and nothing less than a battle between good and evil. Between government corruption. Greed. Power. Human rights issues like child and sex trafficking. Secret wars. Lies. Communism. The destruction of morals, the nuclear family and faith. The list could go on and it does. And that is why I believe we are here right now. See, my life has been a struggle to say the least. I've seen hell on earth 3 times over through addiction, abuse and homelessness. And I don't know why God chose to save me exactly. Because so many that lived that hell with me have passed. .. But he did. The only thing I can say is I'm grateful for my experience bc I believe it gave me what I needed to try to be a part of this movement. I know I'm blessed to be here with all of you fighting on the side of good. It's been a long hard road. So much about it can confuse us and bring fear and anger. But we can be afraid of no man with his armor. Faith over fear. I will never quit. I will never back down. Despite the fact that I am standing for the innocence of a special needs black man -- from a family of lifelong Democrat voters -- who is being unjustly prosecuted by the Trump administration's U.S. Department of Justice and FBI -- my liberal, politically left-leaning, registered Democrat friends are remaining curiously silent. None are speaking out in support of either Brian Cole Jr. or me. Why do you think that is? Where are the voices of those who claim to care most about civil rights? Former FCC Chair Wheeler: An autocrat's favorite tool is a monopoly on telling the story. And if you can control the people who tell that story, then you've got an autocrat's greatest dream. What's happening now at the FCC is an effort to change the rules about who can own the right to use the public's airwaves to broadcast to Americans. Go back to the beginning of broadcasting — the 1934 Communications Act — whose founding principle was a diversity of voices and a diversity of ownership, so that the debate that is essential to democracy could take place. Over time, that has been whittled down to the point where only about 20% of America's “local” broadcast outlets are truly locally owned. What Chairman Carr announced was an initiative to change the rules to: 1.Allow a handful of broadcasters to have greater national reach that process, give them greater control locally. Let me give you a quick example. There is a merger that has already been agreed to — between Nexstar Media, the largest chain of broadcast outlets in the nation, and another chain by the name of Tegna. This merger is, per se, illegal today because it violates existing FCC rules on both national reach and local ownership. Yet the deal has been agreed to — and is now only awaiting the FCC to change the rules to make it legal. Brendan Carr has indicated an intention to do just that. And how do you make it legal? This is probably the most complex workflow I’ve ever built, only with open-source tools. It took my 4 days. It takes four inputs: author, title, and style; and generates a full visual animated story in one click in ComfyUI . I worked on it for four days. There are still some bugs, but here’s the first preview. Here’s a quick breakdown: - The four inputs are sent to LLMs with precise instructions to generate: first, prompts for images and image modifications; second, prompts for animations; third, prompts for generating music. - All voices are generated from the text and timed precisely, as they determine the length of each animation segment. - The first image and video are generated to serve as the title, but also as the guide for all other images created for the video. - Titles and subtitles are also added automatically in Comfy. - I also developed a lot of custom nodes for minor frame calculations, mostly to match audio and video. - The full system is a large loop that, for each line of text, generates an image and then a video from that image. The loop was the hardest part to build in this workflow, so it can process either a 20-second video or a 2-minute video with the same input. - There are multiple combinations of LLMs that try to understand the text in the best way to provide the best prompts for images and video. - The final video is assembled entirely within ComfyUI. - The music is generated based on the LLM output and matches the exact timing of the full animation. - Done! For reference, this workflow uses a lot of models and only works on an RTX 6000 Pro with plenty of RAM. My goal is not to replace humans, as I’ll try to explain later, this workflow is highly controlled and can be adapted or reworked at any point by real artists! My aim was to create a tool that can animate text in one go, allowing the AI some freedom while keeping a strict flow. I wanna give David Guetta his flowers. This guy might be the most important DJ of all time when it’s all said and done - 100% the most prolific and impactful and me and him have had our own differences a few times very petty probably all on my end as a young upcoming little shithead producer, but I always looked up to him for the man that brought the second wave of dance music to America and then from there took over the universe - at the time those r&b / hip hop and rock vocal seems destined for radio only . but are still go to songs for even the most snobbiest dj- he made CLASSICS that stand since day one. he’s still tapped in with the underground tapped in with new sounds / producers tapped in on pushing things forward tapped in with the business. there wouldn’t be an ibiza business model for all the rest of us to participate in If it wasn’t for what him and Cathy Guetta created and you know even after all these years, me and him talked out the state of the music and he showed up for me very boss way with working on this Major Lazer ROTATE remix for me , it’s honestly inspirational how much he still loves to produce to listen to learn new music be a great dad be a businessman be a creator and all around a fucking nice guy so these are your flowers David Guetta.
