Many of those hives are not hurting anyone. We have one on our house with those giant MF-ing honey bees as security guards. They fly right by me and never bother me but damn they are cool for scaring the shit out of house guests....

Most of these nests are from paper wasps and don't bother you. It's the yellow jackets that live underground that are the ass holes

That’s how I got my umbilical hernia. Climbed up on the roof to pull vines down from around the fireplace and didn’t know about the bees nest in the roof. I tried to go down the ladder backwards & fell to the ground landing on my side. I didn’t even know I had caused the hernia until about 2months later. 🤣

The very best thing to do, is PAY ATTENTION. If the hive doesn't get too large, it is not a difficult thing to get rid of either. I recommend spraying with bleach like Clorox clean-up. This will cause any bees (hornets wasps) in the small hive to leave, then knock it down.

As a beekeeper, yeah. Don't do that. Wait til first full frost (if you get them), then just go and take it down, make it a display.

My Dad was a bricklayer and when he worked in Texas in the late 70's building developments, he'd often see the clear cut guys racing out of the woods because they hit a bee hive or hornets nest. It really only takes about 8-10 stings to kill you. Less for a hornet.
