Today, in my capacity as the President of NANS, I led all the structures of NANS, including sister unions, NAUS, NAPS, NANCES and NFSAN to the Community High school, Ahoro-Esiele, and Yawato community in Orire Local Government area of Oyo state, where we visited the scenes where our students and teachers were abducted. Going forward, we met with the King, some of the families of the victims, and parents in the communities of Ahoro-Esiele and Yawato communities. Furthermore, we assured them of our solidarity and support for them in this time of trouble and grief. Subsequently, we assured them that we are constantly calling on the government to ensure the immediate rescue and safe return of the abducted students and teachers. Conclusively, I assured all Nigerian Students that as far as I remain their President, I will continue to protect their interest. They can be assured that they have a leadership that will not let them down. BABTEE NANS PRESIDENT

The law must take its course and the state alone must enforce laws, because it’s got the responsibility to do that. We have not opposed people who have publicly protested the issue of illegal immigration but have called for those protests to occur within the confines of the law. No citizen of our country must take the law unto their own hands, chase people, show hatred and call people “amakwerekwere”. That is not ubuntu, that is not South African. These are Africans, and they might have landed in our country illegally and we believe that lawfully as we are seeing our government at this moment, they must be assisted to go back home peacefully. One thing I have always admired about the Yoruba culture is their deep sense of gratitude. Just look at how the people in the community where the abducted Oyo school children and teachers were rescued came out to thank and appreciate the military personnel as they drove away after the successful operation. In some other regions, such an operation might have been met with insults and accusations that the federal government is using the military to invade their community. That culture of acknowledging and appreciating those who make sacrifices deserves recognition. The Yoruba people place a high value on gratitude, and it is a quality worth emulating.
